Alex Rodriguez is widely regarded as one of the greatest baseball players of all time, with a 20 year career that includes 14 All-Star appearances, three American League Most Valuable Player Awards, ten Silver Slugger Awards, and two Gold Glove Awards. He has played for the New York Yankees since 2004 and helped lead the club to a World Championship in 2009. Prior to his career with the Yankees, Mr. Rodriguez played shortstop for the Seattle Mariners (1994-2000) and the Texas Rangers (2001-2003). In 1993, he was drafted as the #1 pick directly into the major leagues after graduating in 1993 from Westminster Christian School in Miami, Florida. Perhaps less widely known, Mr. Rodriguez is the Founder and CEO of A-ROD Corp, a private holding company with businesses in the U.S. and Latin America. Under his leadership, Mr. Rodriguez has turned A-ROD Corp into a significant investment vehicle focusing on several growth sectors including multi-unit, luxury, and commercial real estate, high-end fitness centers and automotive dealerships. His long-term vision, coupled with his ability to bring highly experienced management teams together and his willingness to raise capital, has built a track record of positive returns for investors and partners.
In addition to his professional endeavors, Mr. Rodriguez actively pursues specific philanthropic initiatives. A primary focus is the Boys and Girls Club where he spent his youth and where he has dedicated the last 20 years volunteering, supporting and helping to create life-changing environments for at-risk youth. He currently serves on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of Miami-Dade. Mr. Rodriguez is also a Board of Trustee member at the University of Miami (UM), where the baseball stadium is named after him and where he started a scholarship for Boys and Girls Club alumni to pursue their undergraduate degrees. Additionally, he holds an honorary UM degree.
