Ivan Wood serves as a business consultant for ZT Wealth and Altus Health. Prior to retiring from active law practice, he represented clients in the healthcare industry for more than 40 years. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Juris Doctor from the University of Texas at Austin before serving 3 years active duty in the U.S. Navy JAG Corps. He was board certified in health law by the State Bar of Texas and his professional affiliations include the American Health Lawyers Association, where he served as both Board member and a Fellow.
During his career, he has recognized the ever changing landscape healthcare in the United States. The structuring, creation, financing, acquiring/selling, reimbursement, and operational issues inherent in a highly complex and extremely regulated industry has proven to be a valuable learning experience. He has represented physicians, hospitals, imaging centers, ambulatory surgery centers, radiation therapy centers, hospices, health maintenance organizations, independent practice associations, home health agencies, durable medical equipment companies, and other entities. A mandatory aspect of every business transaction and the operations of every healthcare entity he represented included regulatory compliance under the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback, False Claims Act, and Medicare and equivalent state laws.
He is a frequent speaker with the American Health Lawyers Association, where he also served on the committee to develop the Hospitals and Health Systems conference, as well as the University of Texas Health Law Conference, the adjunct faculty of the University of Houston – Clear Lake, and the American Society of Anesthesiologists.
